COMM 2110: Interpersonal Communication
I decided to take COMM 2110 to fulfill part of my Language Arts emphasis for my BS in Elementary Education. I felt that this would not only benefit my relationships at home but also help teach me how to communicate more effectively for the future relationships I will create with my students and their parents as well. During the semester in COMM 2110 we were to find a part of our communication that we felt needed to be changed in order to benefit our interpersonal relationships. After we decided on an unwanted communication habit we were to find how to improve on it. We were to log our progress in a journal and then create a final report regarding our success in changing the unwanted communication habit. I decided to share with you my final report. You will find the link to my final report below.

Reflection
This course has definitely been one of the most beneficial courses I have taken thus far and is also one of my favorites. I have improved my relationships with my husband, oldest daughter, mother, and best friend since I have learned many communication concepts throughout this semester. I still have room to grow in improving my communication with others, but I feel that the many concepts I have learned will help me along the way.
As an elementary teacher I will not only be working with 20-30 students every year but I will also be working with their parents. In order to fully assist each student reach their full learning potential, I first need to know how to communicate with them effectively. I also need to communicate with the parents of my classroom since they share a great deal of responsibility in their children's education. If I cannot communicate effectively with the children and their parents then I will not reach my full potential as a teacher. I look forward to using the concepts I have learned in this course to help me in my future as an elementary teacher.
