I took LE 1220 Human Relations and Career Development during my first semester at SLCC. One of the assignments was to put together my resume with a cover letter. Here is a copy of my cover letter and resume.
Reflection
I loved this assignment because I have always struggled with writing out my resume and cover letter so it helped me to overcome my anxiety of writing them. This class and assignment has taught me the new ways to write out a resume and what employers are currently looking for.
This resume took me quite a while because I wanted it to be perfect and I feel that it is my best work yet when it comes to resumes. While writing this resume I kept coming up with different ways that I could put it together so that became my biggest problem during this assignment. In the end I think it ended up well though and am very proud of my work.
I have never really written a cover letter before but after writing this one I absolutely love it. It shows how professional I can be and how much cover letters really can help you stand out above other candidates. On my cover letter I put a recent graduate of SLCC in which this of course is not true yet but I was writing as if I had for when I apply for a teaching position. I am planning on getting my BS degree but not sure what school I am going to attend yet.
This assignment taught me a lot in resume and cover letter writting which I stated above that I always felt I struggled with and had fears of doing. I am very excited to use my new skills in resume and cover letter writing in the future to help me obtain the career of my dreams.
